Refurbished digital lab, teacher training, safety awareness and community aid enhance learning opportunities at SMU (A) Tarbiah Diniah Meranti
PASIR MAS, March 13 - EDOTCO Malaysia has reinforced its commitment to bridging the digital divide and empowering communities by refurbishing the digital lab at SMU (A) Tarbiah Diniah Meranti, Kelantan. This initiative, part of EDOTCO’s Zakat Wakalah Programme, reflects the company’s dedication to leveraging connectivity for education and community upliftment under its Tower2Community corporate social responsibility (CSR) pillar.
The handover ceremony was officiated by Kelantan Menteri Besar, YAB Dato’ Ustaz Haji Mohd Nassuruddin, who commended EDOTCO’s efforts in equipping students and teachers with necessary resources to thrive in a digital environment.
“Education is the foundation of progress, and initiatives like this ensure that students are not left behind in the digital era. We appreciate EDOTCO’s commitment to empowering the younger generation with better access to technology and knowledge. This effort aligns with the Pelan Tindakan Ekonomi Digital Kelantan 2030, which aims to create digitally empowered society ready to thrive in a rapidly evolving world,” he said.
As part of this initiative, EDOTCO refurbished the school’s digital lab by equipping it with new computers, projectors, and upgraded furniture, creating a more conducive learning environment for students. To further enhance digital literacy, the company provided training sessions or teachers, equipping them with essential skills to incorporate digital tools into their teaching materials and methods, thereby improving classroom engagement and learning outcomes.
Beyond education, EDOTCO emphasized the importance of health and safety awareness by conducting Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) sharing sessions for students, ensuring they understand environmental safety principles from a young age.
Recognising the economic challenges faced by local families, EDOTCO extended its support by donating essential basic needs to 50 asnaf families, providing much needed relief during the Ramadhan month and the upcoming Eid celebration.
Strengthening its bond with the community, EDOTCO also hosted an iftar gathering for students and teachers, fostering a sense togetherness and inclusivity during the holy month of Ramadan. The event underscored the company’s broader commitment to community engagement, inclusivity and social well-being.
EDOTCO Chief Executive Officer Adlan Tajudin emphasized the company’s dedication to digital inclusivity.
“At EDOTCO, we believe that access to connectivity is a fundamental right, not a privilege. By refurbishing this digital lab and providing training for educators, we are investing in the future of these students, empowering them to thrive in an increasingly digital world. Through our Zakat Wakalah Programme, we are committed to not just providing digital infrastructure but also supporting communities holistically. Education and connectivity go hand in hand, and we are proud to play our role in shaping a digitally inclusive future,” he said.
This initiative aligns with EDOTCO’s broader CSR agenda of promoting sustainability, inclusivity, and digital empowerment. By integrating education, technology, and community well-being, EDOTCO continues to support Malaysia’s national aspirations for digital literacy and inclusive economic growth.
