Sustainable Energy, Telecommunications Infrastructure and Digital Transformation,
At EDOTCO, we value our commitment to sustainable energy and telecommunications infrastructure in Malaysia. Under the Budget 2024, we applaud the government’s allocation of RM 2 billion through the Dana Mudah Cara Peralihan Tenaga Negara to release their ambitions surrounding the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) to further bolster the sustainable energy sector. We believe that fostering public-private partnerships is the cornerstone of progress, as it accelerates the development of renewable energy projects and infrastructure, advancing our nation's journey toward sustainability.
As one of the leading telecommunications infrastructure companies in Malaysia and a proud partner of the JENDELA initiative, EDOTCO is committed to working together to improve the internet network facilities in the country. The allocation to invest RM 60 million in the development of a 5G Cyber Security Testing Framework and the enhancement of expertise is a testament to the government’s commitment to further amplifying Malaysia’s digital economy.
This allocation will allow for the expansion of resources and maintenance of telecommunications infrastructure, hence enabling improved connectivity for the public and fostering economic growth through enhanced digital services. We believe that this allocation is a pivotal step in collectively working towards a more sustainable and connected future for our nation.
EDOTCO also welcomes the budget allocation to replace and expand Wi-Fi coverage in all public universities with a total of RM 250 million, as well as the Program Kampung Angkat MADANI, which focuses on providing basic facilities and amenities, including internet access in remote rural areas. This initiative will accelerate the government's aspirations to become the Asian Digital Tiger, emphasizing its commitment to enhancing digital infrastructure and connectivity across the nation.
Digital infrastructure investment remains pivotal as Malaysia propels itself towards its digitalisation goals, serving as the bedrock of future growth. The 2024 budget allocation for expanding and enhancing digital infrastructure will not only amplify connectivity but also catalyse participation in the digital economy and stimulate digital transformation across industries.
As a dedicated player in the telecommunications infrastructure sector, EDOTCO is poised to collaborate closely with the government to advance the nation's digital transformation agenda and contribute to sustainable economic growth within Malaysia's telecommunications industry. We are committed to supporting Malaysia’s goal of becoming an Asian digital tiger as the golden digital decade fast approaches and lead sustainable digital connectivity within the nation.
