EDOTCO Group is deepening its regional presence in South Asia with a renewed commitment to Sri Lanka, anchored in smarter infrastructure, meaningful public-private partnerships, and a bold vision for inclusive digital growth.

Our Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Adlan Tajudin, accompanied by Country Managing Director Gayan Koralage, embarked on a multi-day strategic mission in Colombo recently. The visit reinforced EDOTCO’s role as a long-term development partner, contributing not only to telco infrastructure, but to Sri Lanka’s ambitions in the digital economy, energy transition, and sustainable national planning.

The visit began at the EDOTCO Sri Lanka office, where the Group CEO was welcomed with a traditional oil lamp-lighting ceremony, a cultural emblem of prosperity and positive beginnings. The symbolism mirrored the purpose of the visit itself: illuminating new paths for collaboration, growth, and national impact.

Aligning with National Vision: From Policy to Investment

A central pillar of the visit was high-level dialogue with Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Honorable Eranga Weeraratne. The conversation explored how infrastructure intelligence, real-time data, and 5G learnings could serve as tools for informed policymaking and development of national service delivery to align with global benchmarks. As Sri Lanka strategically shifts towards enhancement and growth of its digitalization, the need for scalable, intelligent, and shared infrastructure is more pressing than ever.

Further strengthening this alignment was an insightful meeting with the Board of Investment (BOI). Group CEO Adlan Tajudin met with its Chairman, Arjuna Herath and Director General, Renuka Weerakone. The meeting reaffirmed EDOTCO’s intent to mobilise long-term investment in the country’s digital infrastructure layer. The conversation underscored a mutual understanding: resilient infrastructure unlocks sustainable economic competitiveness.

The visit also featured a courtesy call to His Excellency Badli Hisham Adam, Malaysian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka. The meeting reinforced bilateral cooperation between Malaysia and Sri Lanka in advancing digital infrastructure, with EDOTCO positioned as a key conduit for Malaysian innovation and investment entering the Sri Lankan market.

The EDOTCO Sri Lanka team also arranged a brief visit for GCEO to meet Mr. Tilvin Silva, an inspiring leader who is the founding member of the National People’s Power – which is the current ruling political party of the Country which ascended to power with its ‘zero corruption’ agenda.

Co-Creating a Smarter, Greener Infrastructure Ecosystem

On the industry front, EDOTCO’s leadership team held productive meetings with Group Chief Executive of Dialog Axiata Mr. Supun Weerasinghe, the senior leadership team of SLT-Mobitel, led by Dr. Mothilal De Silva, and with these engagements reflected EDOTCO’s ethos of co-creation of not just offering solutions, but collaborating with operators to reduce network duplication, drive efficiency, and fast-track digital access.

A major milestone for industry growth was reached during the visit: the launch of EDOTCO’s first energy site in partnership with Dialog, located in Kohilawatta, Kelaniya. The event was graced by Huawei’s CEO, Zhang Jinze and Dialog Axiata PLC’s Head of Radio Network Planning, Dhanushka Senanayake. This milestone is more than a deployment; it’s a signal of what is possible – with a site featuring 5G-ready, sharable power solutions, built for multi-tenant use and engineered to support next-generation network needs while reducing carbon footprint.

This is EDOTCO’s energy innovation in action, transforming how infrastructure is powered to align with national sustainability goals and meet the demands of tomorrow’s networks.

Enabling the Infrastructure Layer of the Future

The visit concluded with a meaningful engagement at the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL). During the meeting, EDOTCO reiterated its commitment to supporting the country’s connectivity ecosystem and expressed optimism about the imminent issuance of an Infrastructure License, a crucial step toward formalising its role as a trusted infrastructure partner.

This development will mark a turning point in EDOTCO Sri Lanka’s journey, unlocking new opportunities to scale its presence and deepen its impact in support of the country’s national priorities. With 5G on the horizon, a digital economy in focus, and climate goals becoming more urgent, EDOTCO stands ready to deliver the infrastructure layer of the future; neutral, intelligent, energy-efficient, and inclusive.

Together, we’re building the next chapter of Sri Lanka’s digital resilience.
