Our employees are an important part of the company and we have learnt over the years that listening is just as important as launching initiatives.

Meet Than Htike Soe! He’s a senior executive under the energy department in Myanmar. We sat down with him earlier this week and spoke to him about what it means for him to work at EDOTCO and be a part of a company that strives to foster a Bionic Organisation all while remaining sustainable.

Let’s take a look at his responses below:

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Than Htike Soe and I am 33 years old. I graduated with a Bachelor Of Engineering (Mechanical) from Government Technological University. Soon after, I worked in the construction industry as a junior engineer which paved my way as I moved on to the Telecom industry as a project engineer where I worked on passive projects related to power for about 3 years. I am currently working as a senior executive in energy management at the operation department.

Tell us a little bit about your job scope.
My job scope includes managing energy consumption as well as developing strategies to control energy consumption and benchmarking energy consumption against best practice guidelines and plan efficient operation with the lowest energy usage.

Sustainability is a big part of EDOTCO as a brand. What has EDOTCO done to be more sustainable, especially when it comes to energy consumption/output to reduce its carbon footprint and meet UN SDG goals?
EDOTCO’s focus on sustainability stems from its three pillars of environmental, social and governance. Reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions are strongly tied to the environmental pillar by implementing renewable projects such as utilising solar, wind turbine and alternative materials for energy as well as waste management, reforestation and so on.

What are two new innovations that EDOTCO has come up with in regard to energy within the last year?
EDOTCO has deployed solar & wind turbine power energy solutions to reduce not only fuel consumption but also carbon emission to ensure a better environment.

Are there any initiatives done in the EDOTCO office to reduce energy consumption?
At EDOTCO, we are committed to reducing energy consumption and as such, quite a number of initiatives have been launched to ensure that we keep in line with our ESG goals. This includes increasing awareness through announcements and signages and limiting paper printing by developing digitalising forms. Some of the other initiatives include taking in natural light wherever possible to reduce the electricity consumption as well as increasing greenery within the office space.

Have you participated in any volunteer work for EDOTCO? If so, tell us more.
EDOTCO conducts CSR activities on a quarterly basis to ensure a sense of continuity to the messaging. Personally, I have participated in a few CSR activities, but the few that has impacted me personally are training program we conducted for university students, donation of unused clothes to the needy as well as tree planting activities in line with our ESG initiatives.

Than Htike Soe is among the numerous employees who have played a vital role in shaping EDOTCO into the organisation it is today. We extend our gratitude to him for his valuable contributions and eagerly anticipate progressing together with him as we embrace the future.
