Meet Sonita Koem! She’s an executive under the finance department in Cambodia. We caught up with her earlier this week and spoke to her about what it means for her to work at EDOTCO and be a part of a company that strives to foster a Bionic Organisation all while ensuring it stays true to its aim in shaping future connectivity in Asia.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hello! My name Sonita and I work with the Finance Department in EDOTCO Cambodia. One thing I’m passionate about is personal development and as such, I try to read at least one book a month. I believe it will transform me to a better version of myself. I also love to explore new places, learn about new innovations within the digital world, such as new IOT’s inventions, solving complex maths equations and IFRS refreshing.

Tell us a little bit about your job scope.
My responsibilities span from ensuring the accuracy of accounting records (GL/AR) in D365 system, automatic billing from easi, and analysing financial data, administrative, and clerical functions within the Finance Department. I also assist with ad-hoc requests such as reports and prepare Business Performance slides, prepare BoD and DCR papers.

What does a typical day look like to you?
As I work full time in the office, I typically start my day by looking through pending tasks from the previous week or day so I can set my priorities to get it done within the timelines agreed upon. I also ensure that I make time to socialise with my colleagues across the departments just to inject some fun into my day.

Why did you want to work at EDOTCO? What was so special about the company?
EDOTCO’s purpose and vision motivated me. I researched the company prior to joining and found that their values and purpose aligned with my goals. My time here has shown me that the team truly supports each other and we tend to look at each other as a family outside our families.

What is your favourite place to work from in the office?
My favourite place to work in the office is honestly, my own desk. The entire office exudes a conducive working environment and I find it not only enjoyable but calming as I work collaboratively with the team.

One of the values EDOTCO holds close to its brand is “Connecting the Unconnected”. How, in your opinion, has EDOTCO managed to achieve this in the programs and initiatives conducted?
One of the values EDOTCO holds close to its brand is “Connecting the Unconnected”. EDOTCO Cambodia has successfully implemented the corporate social responsibility programs (Tower 2 Power & Tower 2 Water) by holding this value close to its core and contributing 2% of the annual turnover to the Ministry of Post and Telecom of Cambodia – MPTC through Universal Services Obligation – and USO project build tower in remote areas which allows us to support connectivity throughout the country regardless location, social class or any other form of discrimination.

EDOTCO is rapidly becoming one of the biggest telco companies within the region. Why do you think that is?
The telecommunications industry has been one of the fastest-growing industries for the past decades and it continues to expand rapidly today. Throughout this period, EDOTCO has and continues to, under the helm of our senior management team, strategically expanded its footprint across various regions such as the Philippines and Indonesia successfully through meticulous planning and forward thinking.
