Celcom and Digi have been EDOTCO’s instrumental customers since before their merger and acquisition. Therefore, it is only fitting for EDOTCO to continue the long-term partnership with Malaysia’s largest mobile operator, CelcomDigi.

On June 12, 2024, the date marks a monumental milestone for EDOTCO Group as the lease with CelcomDigi has been renewed. The recently signed agreement reaffirms our long-term commitment to #ShapingFutureConnectivity in Malaysia and further solidifies our position as the premier tower infrastructure partner.

The agreement not only extends EDOTCO’s partnership but also reshapes its key terms to support and realize the synergies from the ongoing CelcomDigi merger through network consolidation. This strategic move sets a new contractual framework for the next decade, aligning with major technological advancements, including the advent of 5G and beyond.

Setting a new template for the tower industry.

The collaboration between EDOTCO and CelcomDigi represents a new template of consolidation for the tower industry in Asia. The telecom sector in the region is experiencing a wave of network consolidation amidst the hyper-growth of data consumption.

It addresses the reshuffling of spectrums between operators and the rise of mid-band networks, for the proliferation of 5G technologies. Moreover, the agreement anticipates the return of the investment cycle and the need for large-scale tower rollouts on a different grid, setting the stage for future growth.

The next decade will be transformative for Malaysia’s telecom industry. With the expected tripling of total data capacity, the proliferation of low latency 5G use cases, and the closure of existing dark spots, Malaysia is poised to become an “Asian Digital Tiger.”

The agreement also supports the hyper-growth of data use in Malaysia, which is expected to triple over the next 10 years.

Under the terms of the renewed agreement, EDOTCO has secured CelcomDigi's preferred TowerCo status as well as a commitment for new site development. Furthermore, EDOTCO is allowing tenants to swap to new towers where network consolidation makes sense. This way, EDOTCO has again redefined next-generation connectivity solutions such as small cells and in-building solutions.
