On May 8, 2025, 100 EDOTCO Rangers came together once again in the spirit of humanitarian service, teaming up with international hunger relief organisation Rise Against Hunger for a second consecutive year.

In 2024, EDOTCO had sponsored and packed 20,000 meals. This year, the company proudly maintained that sponsorship- while an additional 30,000 meals were made possible through the generous support of partner organisations. The result: 50,000 life-sustaining meals packed in a single day. And at the heart of it all was the unwavering commitment and teamwork of the EDOTCO Rangers, whose collective effort turned that ambitious target into a powerful, tangible impact.

Our purpose this year was urgent and deeply personal: delivering food relief to Myanmar in the wake of a devastating 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck near Mandalay on March 28. The tragedy claimed over 1,600 lives, injured thousands, and displaced millions.

Weeks later, the country still grapples with powerful aftershocks, further compounding the damage and distress for already vulnerable communities. The urgent need for sustained humanitarian aid remains critical as families struggle to rebuild their lives amidst ongoing seismic activity

The day began with a solemn briefing highlighting the scope of the tragedy and the critical need for aid. EDOTCO Rangers were joined virtually by their colleagues from EDOTCO Myanmar, who shared emotional first-hand accounts of the quake’s impact on families and communities. What followed was a display of coordination, heart, and sheer willpower.

Divided into seven teams, the EDOTCO Rangers set up high-efficiency production lines to meet an ambitious goal- packing 50,000 nutrient-rich meals. Each team member played a vital role: scooping, measuring, and sealing ingredients with precision and care. The meals, carefully formulated by Rise Against Hunger, include jasmine rice for carbohydrates, dhal and lentil beans for protein, and a vital nutrient sachet packed with 20 essential vitamins and minerals. Designed to be prepared into a porridge, these meals are crucial for sustaining displaced individuals during prolonged recovery periods.

Thanks to the unwavering drive and strong teamwork of the EDOTCO Rangers, the goal was not only met- but achieved ahead of schedule. Within just five and a half hours, the final meal pouch was sealed, packed, and ready to be shipped.

“The enthusiasm and coordination we witnessed today were nothing short of incredible,” said Tiki Teh, President of Rise Against Hunger Malaysia.

“The way they put in their efforts, working together to pack 50,000 meals- it’s just amazing. I’m heart warmed by the volunteers here today. Just by the sheer number of participants, it’s clear the excitement was even greater than last year. The fact that they’re doing it for their fellow colleagues in Myanmar gave this effort an even deeper meaning,” he added.

One of the EDOTCO Rangers, Fatin Syahira, Executive for Enabler Applications, expressed heartfelt appreciation for the initiative. “It’s my first time working with Rise Against Hunger- it’s very exciting. This is such an important cause. It’s about showing solidarity with the victims of the earthquake. I’m very grateful for the opportunity.”

This year’s volunteering effort reflected the very core of EDOTCO Group’s corporate social responsibility: mobilising collective strength to uplift communities in need. By standing shoulder-to-shoulder, literally and figuratively, EDOTCO Rangers once again proved that when purpose drives action, no challenge is too great, and no goal is out of reach.
