EDOTCO Malaysia Empowers the Kampung Orang Asli Rakoh Community with Naluri Rasa
Corporate social responsibility (CSR) today goes beyond just giving back—it’s about building meaningful partnerships that amplify impact. EDOTCO, a leading regional telecommunications infrastructure company, has embraced this approach through a collaboration with its trusted vendor, Naluri Rasa, in a joint CSR initiative at Kampung Orang Asli Rakoh.
This partnership reflects a growing recognition that sustainable community development requires the combined efforts of corporations, and their supply chain partners, working together to address critical local needs. At the heart of this initiative is a shared mission: empowering the Orang Asli, Malaysia’s indigenous community, by fulfilling their basic needs and equipping them with tools to improve their wellbeing and livelihoods.
By aligning their resources and expertise, EDOTCO and Naluri Rasa have created a program that not only addresses immediate challenges—such as the need for sustainable energy and health education—but also fosters long-term benefits, including improved living conditions and increased environmental awareness. Together, both parties joined forces with 40 volunteers, inclusive of 20 EDOTCO Rangers to make a tangible difference.
The success of this program lies in the tangible – immediate benefits and the longer-term, sustainable impact it will have on the Kampung Orang Asli Rakoh community. By working closely together, EDOTCO and Naluri Rasa were able to implement solutions that address both current and future needs.
1. Sustainable Lighting Through Solar Street Lamp Installations
One of the standout achievements of this initiative was the installation of solar-powered street lamps in the village. By providing clean, renewable energy, these lamps offered immediate relief from the challenges of living without reliable access to electricity.
Villagers now have the ability to safely navigate their homes after dark, extend productive hours into the evening, and reduce their dependency on expensive, less sustainable energy sources.
2. Health and Hygiene Education
Alongside the solar installations, EDOTCO and Naluri Rasa led a dental health workshop to raise awareness of proper oral hygiene practices. This session, designed to be engaging and practical, provided community members—especially children—with the tools and knowledge needed to take care of their dental health.
By integrating dental care education into the program, EDOTCO and Naluri Rasa addressed a critical yet often neglected health need.
3. Supporting Vulnerable Members of the Community
EDOTCO and Naluri Rasa also focused on the most vulnerable individuals within the village, including children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
Through direct support, such as the distribution of essential items and personalised care, the initiative ensured that these individuals received the attention they needed. This emphasis on inclusivity highlights the broader goal of the partnership: creating a community where no one is left behind.
This CSR program is a testament to what can be achieved when corporate entities and their vendors collaborate with a shared vision. EDOTCO’s partnership with Naluri Rasa demonstrates how vendor relationships can be leveraged to amplify community impact, merging business operations with social responsibility.
The success of this program not only improved the lives of the Orang Asli but also strengthened the bond between EDOTCO, Naluri Rasa, and the local community. Through this partnership, a foundation has been laid for future CSR collaborations, reinforcing trust and mutual respect between all stakeholders. Together, they are building a future that is brighter, healthier, and more sustainable for all.
