EDOTCO Group Advances Global Sustainability Agenda Through Annual Coastal Clean-Up
In a united effort to protect our coastlines, EDOTCO Rangers across our operating markets; Malaysia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Philippines took part in the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) 2025. This corporate social responsibility (CSR) aims to drive meaningful environmental action on a global scale.
As part of our CSR commitment to address environmental challenges, EDOTCO also collaborated with NGO partner Reef Check Malaysia to carry out beach clean-up activities, raise awareness, and gain access to areas that were highly recommended for clean-up.
Climate change and environmental degradation have far-reaching impacts on human life. The clean-up activities were organized in conjunction with International Coastal Cleanup Day, bringing together EDOTCO Rangers, local communities, and NGO partners across various regions to protect and restore marine ecosystems.

The initiative goes far beyond simply collecting trash. EDOTCO Rangers have played a vital role in raising awareness about ocean pollution, particularly the impact of improper waste disposal and the lack of recycling. They have also contributed to the restoration of marine ecosystems that directly affect human lives, while spreading environmental education across Malaysia and to international communities.
Through these efforts, EDOTCO continues to encourage broader action on climate and sustainability, reflecting its ethos of building a responsible, sustainable, and environmentally conscious society - both within the workplace and across communities.

Corporate entities play a critical role in addressing environmental crises. As one of the world’s leading TowerCo, EDOTCO is committed to tackling environmental issues through CSR initiatives, particularly in coastal areas.
Through our clean-up activities, we aim to combat pollution generated by human activity, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and global environmental action with concrete, long-term solutions.
Plastic remains the most dominant waste found along Malaysia’s coastlines. In 2023, volunteers across the country collected over 26,000 kg of trash, including 39,453 plastic bottles. The following year, during the International Coastal Cleanup, more than 8,500 volunteers removed 41,015 kilograms of waste, with plastic bottles accounting for 50,785 of the 388,730 items recorded. These figures underscore the urgent need for stronger waste reduction measures and more responsible consumption, as plastics continue to make up most marine debris.

EDOTCO’s clean-up activities took place throughout the month, spanning Malaysia and several other countries in the region. In Malaysia, clean-ups were held in Selangor, Johor, Perlis, Pahang, Sabah and Sarawak where EDOTCO Rangers came together and collected a total of 2,252.60 kg of waste.
Beyond Malaysia, the initiative also reached Indonesia, where 30 Rangers in Bogor gathered 60 kilograms of waste; Pakistan EDOTCO Rangers collecting 67.82 kilograms; Cambodia with 373 kilograms; Bangladesh with 385 kilograms; and the Philippines with 455 kilograms. These collective efforts reflect EDOTCO’s shared commitment to keeping our environment clean - no matter where we are.
Through these collective efforts, over 3.5 tons of waste were collected, reflecting EDOTCO Group’s strong commitment to environmental action. More than 400 employees volunteered their time, contributing over 3,200 hours of service. The waste collected included plastic bottles and other non-biodegradable materials, making a visible difference to local coastlines.

Clean beaches are a direct indicator of impact - but the true success lies in shifting community behaviour. Encouraging people to dispose of waste responsibly, reduce plastic use, and recycle is essential to achieving sustainable, long-term change.

For EDOTCO, social responsibility means more than conducting clean-up drives. It’s about empowering communities, fostering a shared sense of responsibility, and inspiring active participation in preserving our environment.
Our CSR programmes align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and are designed to deliver tangible, lasting impact. Through strategic initiatives and collaborations, EDOTCO aims to set a positive example for the broader industry - demonstrating that environmental sustainability and corporate leadership go hand in hand.

EDOTCO continues to invest in environmental programmes as part of our long-term strategy to build a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future - for communities, ecosystems, and generations to come.
