New forum to unite licensed tower infrastructure providers in advancing national connectivity and digital transformation

Colombo, Sri Lanka | 26 June 2026 – Sri Lanka’s licensed telecommunications infrastructure service providers today announced the formation of the Sri Lanka Digital Infrastructure Forum (SLDIF), an industry-based body established to represent and advance the collective interests of tower infrastructure companies in Sri Lanka.

The Forum brings together entities holding licences for Telecommunications Infrastructure Services under Section 17B of the Sri Lanka Telecommunications Act, as amended. Its founding members are EDOTCO Services Lanka (Private) Limited, SGH TowerCo (Pvt) Ltd, and Tantri Trailers (Pvt) Ltd.

SLDIF is established as a non-profit and non-political platform to promote a robust, sustainable, and collaborative telecommunications infrastructure ecosystem. The Forum aims to support Sri Lanka’s national connectivity priorities, digital inclusion agenda, and efficient network rollout, with the broader aspiration of ensuring that no person in Sri Lanka is left behind or remains unconnected.

Through SLDIF, the founding members seek to provide a constructive and unified industry platform for engagement with the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL), the Government of Sri Lanka, local authorities, government bodies, policymakers, and other relevant stakeholders on infrastructure-related matters.

The Forum’s key objectives include promoting infrastructure sharing, sustainability, safety, and best industry practices; addressing regulatory, environmental, community, and operational challenges affecting tower deployment; facilitating dialogue and collaboration among members; and contributing to Sri Lanka’s rural coverage, digital transformation, and national connectivity goals.

Commenting on the formation of SLDIF, Gayan Koralage, Country Managing Director of EDOTCO Services Lanka (Private) Limited, said:

“Across the region, we have seen how strong collaboration between infrastructure providers, regulators, mobile network operators, and policymakers can accelerate network rollout while improving efficiency, sustainability, and investment confidence. As a regional telecommunications infrastructure company, EDOTCO brings this experience to Sri Lanka, and through SLDIF, we hope to contribute towards a more coordinated and future-ready infrastructure ecosystem that supports the country’s digital ambitions.”

R. M. Manivannan, Chairman of SGH TowerCo (Pvt) Ltd, said:

“SLDIF provides a timely platform for industry players to engage collectively and constructively with regulators, policymakers, and stakeholders. By working together, we can help address common challenges faced by the tower infrastructure industry while supporting Sri Lanka’s broader digital development ambitions.”

Athula Haputantri, Managing Director of Tantri Trailers (Pvt) Ltd, said:

“Improving connectivity in underserved and hard-to-reach areas requires more than infrastructure deployment alone. It requires close coordination between industry players, authorities, and communities to ensure that tower infrastructure can be delivered safely, responsibly, and where it is needed most. Through SLDIF, we look forward to supporting practical solutions that help extend digital access to rural communities and emerging economic areas across Sri Lanka.”

The establishment of SLDIF reflects the shared commitment of its founding members to support the continued growth of Sri Lanka’s digital infrastructure sector through responsible industry collaboration, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable infrastructure development.

Moving forward, SLDIF will serve as a forum for dialogue, policy engagement, and industry cooperation, contributing towards a more connected, inclusive, and digitally enabled Sri Lanka.
