Fiberail, edotco collaborate on telco-neutral wireless infrastructure
Network service and facilities provider Fiberail Sdn Bhd and edotco Group Sdn Bhd are collaborating to provide telco-neutral wireless infrastructure services in Malaysia.
Aimed at accelerating the expansion of Mobile Network Operators’ (MNOs) Long-Term Evolution services, the collaboration is also in line with the nation’s aspiration to ensure that the country’s telecommunications industry is 5G-ready, the companies said in a joint statement today.
“Both parties will be working closely to explore opportunities towards deploying next generation telco-neutral wireless infrastructure along Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB)’s railway corridor, allowing MNOs to expand coverage services to the suburban areas,” it said.
“This collaboration is in line with the National Fiberisation and Connectivity Plan undertaken by Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission which aims to provide nationwide connectivity that is robust, pervasive and high quality,” it said.
The parties are expected to formalise the terms and collaboration areas by entering into definitive agreements within a year.
Incorporated in 1992, Fiberail is a joint venture company between Telekom Malaysia, KTMB and Petrofibre Network (M) Sdn Bhd, licensed under the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 as a network service provider and network facilities provider primarily in the telecommunications industry.
Meanwhile, edotco Group was established in 2012 and is the first regional integrated telecommunications infrastructure services company in Asia.
