edotco lights up five villages with 283 solar-powered Tuki lamps

Phnom Penh, 23 June 2018: edotco (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. (“edotco Cambodia”) reinforced their commitment to sustainability and community development by donating another 150 sets of solar-powered Tuki lamps to three more villages (Monosok, Veal Krasang, & Chomkar Morn) in Takaen Commune, Chhouk District, Kampot Province.

Through the ‘Solar-power Tuki lamps to communities’ project, edotco hopes to be able to lighten the burden faced by members of the community while encouraging sustainable practices. This is the third donation by the company, the first two were conducted in April and May this year, where 133 sets of solar-powered Tuki lamps were donated to two villages (Chey Ta Svay, Prey Peay), two health centers (Takaen Health center and Trapian Pleang Health center), and community security centres of five villages located in Takaen Commune, Chhouk District, Kampot Province.

Phillip Wong, Chief Regional Officer of edotco Cambodia shared that the objective of the project is to be able to serve the rural communities’ needs and provide real impact on their daily lives while championing the company’s sustainability efforts at the same time.

“At edotco we are committed to being a socially responsible business through pushing for sustainability while developing the communities in which we are present. As we grow our business, we are mindful that the communities grow with us too. These environmentally friendly lamps will light up these households throughout the day during both dry and wet seasons, significantly improving the quality of life for these families. They are also a lot safer and they remove the risks that come with using kerosene lamps. This initiative is also part of our effort to support the government’s policy to provide energy and electricity for all citizens. Part of our social responsibility commitment includes partnering for nation building efforts, and we hope to be able to provide more solar-powered energy to respond to the country’s needs” he said.

Aside from the 283 sets of solar-powered Tuki lamps that were donated, edotco and business partners also donated 60 bicycles and 160 sets of daily essentials which included toiletries, medicines, Kroma, and stationary to students and villagers.
