edotco lights up Myanmar’s tallest ‘Christmas Tree’.
Yangon, 7th December 2017: edotco Myanmar Limited (“edotco Myanmar”) will switch on the Christmas lights on a very special ‘Tree’ in Pun Hlaing Estate on Saturday 9th December. Standing at 30 meters high, this specially constructed camouflage telecom tower ‘tree’ by edotco is undoubtedly Myanmar’s tallest ‘Christmas Tree’. The telecom tower has been seasonally decorated with LED lights and will stand as a festive beacon while the tower company hands out presents to children living in the nearby village.
edotco is the first telecom tower company in the country to install innovative towers that blend with the environment. The camouflage telecom tower “tree”, erected earlier this year is built within Pun Hlaing’s residential complex and is a 30m Monopole Tree Tower (Slipped Type) made up of hot dipped mild steel, coated with fiber glass and painted brown for the main tower body to resemble a tree bark. Artificial branches were added to it to mimic the natural look of a real pine tree and to match the existing aesthetics of the nearby Golf Estate. The tower covers a 20-kilometer radius which includes all residences inside the estate and the surrounding Nyaung Village in the township of Hlangtharyar.
Vijendran (Vijay) Watson, Country Managing Director of edotco Myanmar, said: “edotco is pleased to showcase our camouflage solutions that can be used in a range of environmental settings. Towers need not be viewed as ugly man-made objects and can be adapted to look inconspicuous while providing necessary coverage. Aside from this ‘Christmas tree’ tower we are also designing another tower in Star City to look like a chimney, this allows us to have some fun with our towers while sharing the Christmas spirit at the same time.”
edotco is constantly experimenting with materials and offering innovative solutions to address the challenges of the telecom infrastructure industry. The company also pioneered the use of Asia’s first ground-based carbon fiber tower in Malaysia and recently introduced the use of bamboo as a renewable resource for a tower on a rooftop in Dhaka.
Established in 2012, edotco Group is the first regional and integrated telecommunications infrastructure services company in Asia, providing end-to-end solutions in the tower services sector from tower leasing, co-locations, build-to-suit, energy, transmission and operations and maintenance (O&M).
